Inaugural DELP Officers
The DELP Officers provide governance and strategic direction to the overall DELP community. The Officers and corresponding committee members will be a diverse group; diverse as defined by race, ethnicity, gender, religion, age, sexual orientation, nationality, disability, appearance, professional experience, geographic location, membership type, organization type etc.
The Leadership Committee identified the following desired attributes for the Inaugural DELP Officers:
- Be a DELP Scholar who is at least four years post-cohort.
- Maintain active membership in ASAE.
- Demonstrate a strong record of leadership commitment and engagement within the DELP community and ASAE at large. Examples may include service on an ASAE or ASAE Research Foundation committee, section council, commission, or task force; and attainment of the CAE credential.
- Uphold the highest standards of ethics, diversity, equity, inclusion, and civility, modeling these values within the association community.
- Be available to participate in scheduled meetings and fulfill the responsibilities of the role.
- Exhibit positive leadership attributes, including emotional intelligence; the ability to work collaboratively; proactive and forward-thinking leadership; and the capacity to engage in thoughtful debate and discussion when appropriate.
- Be a visionary and strategic thinker with the ability to develop innovative programs that support current and future DELP Scholars.
DELP Chair
The DELP chair, with assistance from the vice chair, immediate past chair, and ASAE staff liaison, is charged with the facilitation, coordination, and communication of DELP programming – ensuring that the DELP scholars are actively contributing to the advancement of ASAE’s priorities. This individual actively leads the work of the group and brings unique contributions, insights, and innovative experiences that will enhance the thinking and the experience for the DELP community.
The DELP chair is expected to attend the DELP Reunion and ASAE Annual Meeting. This position term is a one-year commitment. The chair then moves into the role of the immediate past chair for another one-year term.
The Chair’s primary responsibility is to lead the DELP Selection Committee and oversee the program for the DELP reunion, including:
- Review the selection committee process, criteria, and application to determine if the process needs to be updated,
- Create the Selection Committee process calendar for the year, choose Selection Committee members, and
- Work with committee members in selecting the new group of DELP Scholars.
- Participate in three to five planning conference calls, a candidate selection conference call, approximately 10 hours for review and rating of applications, and a 90-minute virtual final selection meeting
- In collaboration with the staff liaison, ASAE’s learning team, and other DELP officers, aid in selecting themes and speakers for the DELP reunion program.
DELP Vice-Chair
The DELP Vice Chair role assists the chair and the ASAE staff liaison in the facilitation, coordination, and communication of DELP programmatic activities, ensuring that the DELP scholars and alumni are actively contributing to the advancement of ASAE’s strategic priorities. The vice chair’s primary responsibilities include:
- Planning the DELP New Scholar Orientation,
- Coordinating DELP virtual meetings, and
- Being a member of the DELP Selection Committee. This individual, in collaboration with the staff liaison and chair, actively participates in the work of the group, provides thoughtful input into decisions, and promotes the best interests of the DELP Scholars. Develop an understanding of ASAE’s overall strategic framework and build connections to prepare for their role as chair.
- Fulfill the responsibilities of the chair at meetings, on projects, etc., when the chair is unavailable
This position is a one-year commitment. The vice chair then assumes the role of chair and the immediate past chair for a one-year term, respectively. The vice chair is expected to attend the DELP reunion and ASAE Annual Meeting.
DELP Immediate Past Chair
The DELP Immediate Past Chair assists the chair and the ASAE staff liaison in the facilitation, coordination, and communication of DELP programmatic activities for their one-year term – ensuring that the DELP scholars and alumni are actively contributing to the advancement of ASAE’s strategic goals. The immediate past chair’s primary responsibilities include,
- Planning the agenda for the DELP breakfast at Annual Meeting and
- Being a member of the DELP Selection Committee.
This individual, in collaboration with the staff liaison, Chair, and Vice Chair, actively participates in the work of the group, provides thoughtful input into decisions, promotes the best interests of the DELP Scholars, and works toward the accomplishment of the goals as described in the ASAE strategic priorities*. This position is a one-year commitment. The immediate past chair is expected to attend the DELP reunion and ASAE Annual Meeting.
The DELP Officers include Chair, Vice Chair, and Immediate Past Chair. For the inaugural term,the duties typically assigned to the Immediate Past Chair will be split between the appointed Chair and Vice Chair.
